Introduction

Dr. Greg Vachon brings a wide range of experiences to consulting engagements providing expertise, insightful analysis, innovative solutions and effective implementation of new programs throughout the United States for the past decade. He continues to practice medicine at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) on the south side of Chicago.

His expertise includes digital health solutions, patient-centered medical home care, integrated delivery systems, data and information technology (IT) for integration, and population health management.

Dr. Vachon’s key projects have included providing an analytical framework to determine the appropriate assessment levels for primary care physician service capacity and patient access needs for a public delivery system and public insurance entity in San Francisco. He has also completed projects defining population health needs and capacity in primary and specialty care using multiple models to foster consensus on strategic plans for Tarrant County, TX, leading to capital investments in a public hospital. In Los Angeles, Dr. Vachon provided service mix and geographic use pattern analysis to define new primary care access points using claims, electronic medical records, and census data.

He has led teams in service transformation at health systems where he put in place key components of high-quality primary care while successfully implementing empanelment systems for more than 500,000 primary care patients. In Cook County, IL, he provided a primary care needs assessment to the Health and Hospital System using claims and census data, patient centered medical home assessment and implementation, physician staffing analysis, Medicare assessment and strategy.

He has helped a variety of clients define and execute new strategies, including Sinai Health System, where he developed business plans and performed business development for a community health worker program. He also created a health system strategic plan for La Rabida Children’s Hospital, creating a new business line with an innovative care model and new IT investments.

Dr. Vachon is a licensed physician in Illinois with board certification in internal medicine. He was the Peterson Scholar at the University of Illinois, Chicago School of Public Health and practiced in the Cook County Health and Hospital System for 10 years where he was medical director of a multispecialty health center anchoring a community wellness center.

He earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois, Chicago, a Doctor of Medicine from State University of New York at Stony Brook Medical School, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
