Bren Manaugh is a seasoned healthcare leader and specialist in organizational and systems transformation and whole person care. She has more than 25 years’ experience planning, delivering and evaluating care to people impacted by addiction, mental illness, and justice system involvement. Bren effectively engages stakeholders across systems to develop and drive person-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care to optimize outcomes and reduce risk and costs. 

Bren has expertise in training, technical assistance, and system transformation to support effective, integrated service delivery. At HMA Bren is a technical assistance expert supporting HMA’s projects implementing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in over 30 California county jails and county teams in California, and in Illinois, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, building improved systems of care for treating addiction. She developed and leads a project addressing early substance use intervention with law enforcement co-responder models and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders (SUD) with county teams in California. She is a member of the HMA team providing training to physicians within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. 

For more than 25 years Bren has led efforts for trauma-informed care and developing potential and resilience for both individuals and organizations. She is a certified clinical trauma specialist who has provided direct clinical services; had executive responsibility for medical and behavioral health services providing trauma-informed care in a large system; and developed and delivered trauma training curricula. As a certified professional in healthcare quality and former C-suite executive, she is adept at applying metrics and data analytics, and Lean and change management methodology to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical systems that maximize value and improve outcomes and employee morale and performance.
